The No. 18 Blanchard Surface Grinder. Only our machines can truly “Blanchard Grind”, recognized worldwide as the leader in surface grinding.
Mechanical Rebuild Procedures:
The No. 18 Blanchard is completely torn down to the base and thoroughly cleaned. Machine ways are sand blasted and carefully hand scraped back to factory alignments. The column is disassembled and cleaned and typical wear items are replaced.
The head is disassembled, cleaned and wear items are replaced. The spindle motor is rebuilt, and a Cortland style segmented chuck is installed. Wear items are replaced on the chuck speed box (chuck gear box), and all components are cleaned before reassembly. The magnetic chuck is completely rebuilt, including new coils, potting compound and a new collector ring.
The table body and table drive are cleaned, table bearing pads and way surfaces are machined. Table ways are machined and brought back to OEM specification. Table traverse gear box is disassembled and cleaned.
Upper feed is disassembled and cleaned, handwheel sleeve key and other wear items are replaced.
The coolant system is cleaned and inspected, components are repaired or replaced as needed. This machine is a wet base design, with the coolant storage integral the base.
Additional items are replaced as required.
Electrical Components:
The control cabinet and all electrical components and wiring within the cabinet were replaced. The chuck controller was replaced after testing and inspection. Operators station is disassembled, cleaned and components are inspected. The chuck rotation motor, table traverse motor, and head elevation motor were rebuilt.
Once everything above is complete, the machine is rewired by our electrical technicians.
