The VDM is a micro drilling machine from Mollart’s line of deep hole drilling machines that provides accurately drilled holes for a wide variety of applications.
The VDM is a single axis CNC micro drilling machine that is configured with four vertical spindles. The machine can be configured with an X-Y table, providing the ability to drill pallets of parts or multiple holes in the event that counterrotation is not required. Critical components of the VDM are machined at Bourn & Koch to ensure that the tolerances for alignment are met or exceeded, to provide drilling with minimal deviation. The VDM can drill up to 300mm deep to suit a wide variety of applications. To provide more accurate results, the VDM can be provided with counterrotation of the workpiece. VDMs can drill from .05mm to 8mm diameter holes.
Each VDM machine is built to your unique application, providing full customization including automation options for loading and unloading the machine. The deep hole drilling spindles are driven by powerful Fanuc spindle motors through a belt drive arrangement. A Fanuc 35i control with a gun drilling human machine interface is provided to allow for quick and easy programming. The VDM is a great choice for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers that need a flexible machine for producing tight tolerance holes in high volume production settings.
