In 1985, Bourn & Koch, Inc. acquired the machine tool division of Barber-Colman. Learn more about the history of Barber-Colman by clicking here. Since then, we have continued the tradition of manufacturing world-class gear manufacturing machines in Rockford, Illinois. Our gear manufacturing machines are designed and built just a few short miles from where Barber-Colman once did the same. Our H-Series Hobbers can produce AGMA Class 10 gears. Cutting gears to that level of excellence starts with the precise manufacture and assembly of our machines. Our in-house machining capabilities combined with precision assemblers ensure that every machine we build is well-crafted and designed to last.
Bourn & Koch manufactures our H-Series Hobbers in four sizes from our 25H to up to our 600H. Our most popular gear manufacturing machine is the 400H, our 400mm gear hobber. We build both our 100H and 400H gear hobbers for inventory sale, allowing your shop to quickly add capacity when needed.
Our gear hobbing machines are complimented by our gear shaping machines. In 2002, Bourn & Koch acquired Fellows Gear Shaper corporation, continuing their history of build and remanufacturing high quality production gear shaping machines. Our gear shaper offering is primarily focused on the Fellows 10-4 gear shaper, however we are able to provide machines up to 2550mm capacity. We also offer the HDS 1600-300 dual linear stroking gear shaper for the fast and efficient manufacture of herringbone gears and pinions.
Both new and remanufactured gear shaping machines are offered by Bourn & Koch. We remanufacture and rebuild Fellows 10-4 gear shapers to inventory to allow for you to quickly add capacity in gear manufacturing when needed.
We provide machines for gear manufacturing to numerous industries including heavy equipment, agriculture, aerospace, and defense. Contact us with your application to learn more about what we solutions we can provide for your most challenging gears.
